This week, the acetic acid market was stable with small fluctuations, and the quotations of enterprises fluctuated. On the supply side, the domestic capacity utilization rate was high, factories were actively shipping, and downstream purchases in some regions were good, and the shipments of enterprises were relatively smooth. In North China and Shandong, the shipments of enterprises were poor, and the downstream was not very active in stocking up before the holiday. The acetic acid market price moved down. Long-term contracts were mainly implemented in East China and South China, and the factory quotations remained stable.

The upstream methanol market fell from its highs. From January 13 to 19, the average price of the domestic market fell by 1.58%. The domestic methanol market fell after rising. At the beginning of the week, driven by the rise in crude oil, the domestic methanol market strengthened, but after rising to a high, the market buying momentum was average. Then, as freight rates rose, production companies offered discounts and shipped goods, and the domestic methanol market price fell.

The downstream acetic anhydride market has increased slightly, with the average ex-factory price of acetic anhydride on January 19 increasing by 0.30% compared with the price on January 13. The upstream acetic acid market has seen mixed gains and losses, the cost of acetic anhydride is average, and the downstream market is mainly based on demand. The market transaction atmosphere is good, the supply and demand in the market are relatively balanced, and the price of acetic anhydride has been consolidated and increased.

At present, the utilization rate of acetic acid production capacity is relatively high, the market supply is sufficient, the downstream enthusiasm for stocking up before the holiday is not high, the sales pressure on the supply side still exists, and the trading in the market is general. It is expected that the short-term acetic acid market may be weak, and attention will be paid to the follow-up situation of the downstream in the future.
